1   Q: What is the purpose of this category?
A: The Sports/College_and_University tree is a tool for fans of college sports to locate sites of interest by sport, school, or conference.

Few sites for teams or fans themselves reside under this tree. Instead, editors of each sport and each school are responsible for maintaining their college sports categories. Sites related to athletic conferences and associations, recruiting, and organizations are listed here, as well as guides dedicated to university athletics.

2   Q: I want to sell college items. Where should I put them?
A: Not here! Please submit shopping and merchandise sites to Shopping/Sports/College.

3   Q: Where should I submit my site?
A: If your site covers one or several teams at a single school, please submit it to the school's Athletics subcategory. For example, a fansite for Princeton men's basketball, wrestling, and women's lacrosse should be submitted to Reference/Education/Colleges_and_Universities/ North_America/United_States/New_Jersey/ Princeton_University/Athletics .

If your site covers one or several teams in a single sport, you should submit it to the most appropriate category for the sport. For instance, a site about Penn State football is appropriate under Sports/Football/American/College and University/NCAA-IA/Big Ten/Penn State/ . A site covering Stanford, Cal Berkeley, and UCLA women's basketball would be placed under Sports/Basketball/Women/ College/NCAA-I/Pacific-10_Conference .

If your site covers teams from several different different schools in several different sports, but all within the same athletic conference, the site can be listed under the appropriate conference. For example, a site about Auburn, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt swimming, women's volleyball, crew, and softball would be placed under Sports/College_and_University/ Conferences/Southeastern_Conference .

If your site does not match any of these criteria, it may be more appropriate under Sports/Fans, Society/People/Personal_Home_Pages, or other sections of the directory.

4   Q: What if my school or sport isn't listed?
A: Try browsing from Reference/Education/Colleges_and_Universities for institutions or the top level of Sports. You may also contact the editors listed at the bottom of the screen.
