About the NFL 2024 season
The 2024 NFL season was the 105th season of the National Football League, featuring 32 teams competing across the AFC and NFC. The regular season began in September 2024 and concluded in January 2025, before the NFL Playoffs culminated with Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans in February 2025.
The Philadelphia Eagles were crowned Super Bowl champions after an impressive postseason run. Philadelphia defeated the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round and the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional round before beating the Washington Commanders 55-23 in the NFC Championship Game. The Kansas City Chiefs won the AFC Championship, defeating the Buffalo Bills 32-29 to reach their third consecutive Super Bowl.
Super Bowl LIX saw the Eagles face the Chiefs at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Philadelphia produced a dominant performance to win 40-22 and claim the second Super Bowl championship in franchise history. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was named Super Bowl MVP after throwing for 221 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 72 yards and another touchdown.
Running back Saquon Barkley was another of the season's standout performers. In his first year with Philadelphia, Barkley rushed for more than 2,000 yards during the regular season and was named AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year. Including the playoffs, he finished with 2,504 rushing yards as he helped the Eagles complete their championship-winning campaign.
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was named the AP NFL Most Valuable Player for the first time in his career. Other major individual honours included Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II winning Defensive Player of the Year, Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels being named Offensive Rookie of the Year and Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell receiving Coach of the Year.
The season produced a memorable playoff campaign, with Washington reaching the NFC Championship Game after defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and top-seeded Detroit Lions. In the AFC, Buffalo eliminated the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens before their run ended against Kansas City in the conference championship game.
The 2024 season ultimately belonged to Philadelphia. The Eagles finished their campaign 18-3 across the regular season and playoffs and scored an NFL postseason-record 145 points on their way to the championship. Their Super Bowl victory also prevented Kansas City from becoming the first NFL team to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
